It reminds me, more than anything, of the deeply satisfying way Google Earth that archaeology worked in Civ 5. Your early battles in that game would eventually become archaeology sites to dig up later, so you were in essence the engine behind something that felt almost procedural. This corner is great to kill people on, but you’re going to need it to be relatively clear when you’re racing the clock on your third go round.

Six car classes are presented to you – you’re tasked with completing a series of events for each class before you can go onto the next one. One of the best aspects of Dangerous Driving is the nice selection of events you can run through. There’s your basic lap-based race, a Road Rage mode that wants you to take out as many rivals as possible, and Heatwave .

Your vehicle can drift and boost along the road while you’re hitting dangerous top speeds. Embracing your inner daredevil rewards you with the boost needed to zip past the rest of the pack and cause them to crash spectacularly. The visuals that represent this racer look fine enough, but the much too bright sunlight on some stages and last-gen graphical fidelity make it look a bit dated.

Eventually you can work your way to the Forza Cup, with the most challenging cars and tracks. If the core of Dangerous Driving is Burnout 3 – takedowns are present, traffic-checking is not – the twist this time is that your wreckages are persistent.
